Marcos slams destabilization plots at PMA graduation

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denounced the blatant attempts to destabilize the government during the Philippine Military Academy’s Bagong Sinag Class of 2024 graduation ceremonies in Baguio City on Saturday.

Marcos said the country is experiencing a rebirth, referring to it as “Bagong Pilipinas.”

“This is a time of birth pains—sadly, of opportunism, blatant attempts at destabilization, and last-ditch efforts to cling to the rapidly disappearing past. But we must be resolute. We must hold on. We cannot turn back,” the President said addressing the graduate in his speech.

Former senator Antonio Trillanes recently alleged a plot to overthrow Marcos’ administration, involving active police and retired military officials.

The president told the “Bagong Sinag” Class 2024  to be ready to keep Filipinos safe and the territory secure from “evolving threats that harm our people and corrode social and political trust” amid the growing tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

“What we are facing now is a blatant disregard of internationally accepted principles and deployment of weapons of mass destruction by parties who seek to drive a wedge between a united citizenry. But people are not fooled. They can see through such schemes,” Marcos said.

“No quarter will be given, but we offer peace, of the principled kind that will uproot the causes of social discontent against intruders who have been disrespecting our territorial integrity. We will vigorously defend what is ours, but our conduct always guided by law and our responsibility as a rules-abiding member of the community of nations,” he added. (GP)
