PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday directed concerned government agencies to identify the country’s irrigation assets that can be equipped with solar power generation.
In his speech at the inauguration of the Cabaruan Solar Pump Irrigation Project in Quirino, Isabela, Marcos expressed his desire for farmers to fully benefit from the government’s initiatives to spread solar power irrigation.
He emphasized that this approach would significantly reduce the burdens faced by Filipino farmers.
According to the President, the establishment of solar-powered irrigation projects will ensure a continuous water supply for irrigation, increase crop yields, and double the harvest and income of farmers.
The President assured that his administration will promote modern agriculture under the “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative, with solar-powered irrigation projects being a prime example.
He said these projects are set to be implemented in various parts of the country. (GP)
