Marcos pledges to champion women’s rights, progress

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and opposing any obstacles that hinder their advancement, as the nation marked International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month.

“Being a woman demands resilience and strength, much like our Inang Bayan (Motherland). The progress we see today is built on the sacrifices and efforts of generations of women who have fought and advocated for noble causes,” Marcos said in his message.

He vowed that his government, anchored on Bagong Pilipinas, would always promote gender equality and support women’s empowerment.

The President acknowledged the vital role Filipino women have played in shaping the nation’s history, from the babaylans and katipuneras to today’s frontline workers, professionals, and leaders. He vowed to continue honoring their contributions by inspiring the next generation of young girls through their stories.

His administration, he said, remains committed to empowering women in all sectors, ensuring they receive the support needed to uplift the nation.

March is recognized as National Women’s Month, aligning with global efforts to promote gender equality under international accords like the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Sustainable Development Goals.
