AMID talks of alleged destabilization plots against his administration, President Marcos said there was no need to conduct loyalty checks among the active members of the military and police.
In an interview with reporters in General Santos City on Friday, the President expressed his trust in the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
“I don’t see. Wala kaming report na in the ranks. Pero sa ating mga kapulisan siyempre lalo na sa officer corps, wala naman taong nakikitang ganon na namumulitika ang mga pulis,” Marcos said when asked whether he intends to do a loyalty check on the PNP.
Marcos, meanwhile, has called on members of the PNP and AFP to remain professional and stay true to their sworn duties.
Marcos gave these statements after former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that two senior officials of the PNP are plotting to oust the President to make way for a takeover either by former president Rodrigo Duterte or his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.
Trillanes added that police officials were supposedly working in cahoots with “a retired PNP chief” and former members of the Duterte Cabinet in the ouster plot.
