Marcos accepts DICT Sec Ivan Uy resignation

INFORMATION and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy has stepped down from his post, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. accepting his resignation, Malacañang announced Thursday.

“DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy’s resignation was accepted by the President today,” Palace official Daphne Oseña-Paez confirmed.

An officer-in-charge (OIC) will temporarily assume the role until a new secretary is appointed.

Uy’s departure follows the recent resignations of other high-ranking officials, including former Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista in February due to health reasons, and former Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez, who stepped down last month.

They have since been replaced by Vince Dizon and Jay Ruiz, respectively.

As DICT secretary since June 2022, Uy was tasked with expanding connectivity to remote areas and enhancing technological access nationwide.
