Malacañang OKs probe vs dismissed LTO Calabarzon chief

THE Office of the President (OP) has authorized an investigation into complaints against the former chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).

Atty. Floreida Apolinario of the OP’s 8888 Citizen’s Complaint Center (8888 CCC) said former LTO Region IV-A Regional Director Cupido Gerry Asuncion is being ptobed for allegedly sending representatives to operators of unauthorized vans to pay a monthly fee of P1,000.

Another complaint highlighted Asuncion’s alleged inefficiency in handling a registration-related issue that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) had endorsed to LTO Region IV-A, Asuncion added.

The official said the complaints were forwarded to her office by STAR, a body under the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) designed to enhance government responsiveness to public concerns (GP)
