Malacanang denies link to new complaints against VP Sara

MALACANANG on Friday said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had no involvement in the filing of complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte before the Office of the Ombudsman, rejecting claims that the move was politically driven.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the complainants are not allies of the President but are, in fact, among his critics.

She questioned how Marcos could be linked to the filing of plunder and graft charges against Duterte under such circumstances.

Castro made the statement in response to allegations by Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) deputy spokesperson Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, who claimed the Marcos administration was behind the complaints and described the charges as a political maneuver meant to block Duterte’s potential presidential bid.

The Palace official dismissed the accusations, saying they were meant to deflect attention from the issues raised in the complaints. She stressed that the cases filed against the Vice President stem from allegations of misuse of public funds and not from any political directive from Malacañang.

Castro added that those making such claims should first verify the identities of the complainants instead of advancing what she described as unfounded narratives.
