MOTORISTS can now travel across Luzon’s major expressways using just one RFID account, following the full implementation of the toll interoperability project between SMC Infrastructure and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).
The One RFID system was formally launched in Calamba, Laguna on Tuesday, in an event attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The project integrates the Autosweep and Easytrip electronic toll collection systems, allowing drivers to move seamlessly between expressways operated by both firms.
Covered toll roads include NLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX, Skyway, SLEX, CALAX, CAVITEX, MCX, NAIAX, and the STAR Tollway.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) led the initiative to improve efficiency and convenience in toll collection nationwide. Both operators said the integration required major system upgrades, coordination, and extensive testing to ensure reliability.
Enrollment in the One RFID program remains optional — motorists may continue using separate Autosweep and Easytrip accounts if they prefer.
With interoperability now in place, the focus will shift to expanding registration access and refining system performance for a smoother experience across Luzon’s toll network.
