Kamara uungkatin sunog sa Central Post Office

ILANG kongresista ang humiling na busisiin ang nangyaring sunog na tumupok sa makasaysayang Manila Central Post Office building sa Lawton, Maynila nitong Lunes.

Sa inihaing House Resolution 1019, hiniling ni Pangasinan Rep. Christopher de Venecia at 41 iba pang kongresista na imbestigahan ng House committee on creative industry and performing arts ang nangyaring sunog lalo pa’t ang gusaling natupok ay “historic structure, architectural elements at invaluable cultural artifacts.”

Sa gagawing pagsisiyasat, makikita rin umano dito kung gaano rin kabilis ang mga pamatay-sunog at upang masuri rin ang kasalukuyang safeguards and preventive measures upang matiyak na hindi na mauulit ang ganito kalaking insidente.

“The preservation, restoration, and protection of our heritage sites are of utmost importance, as they contribute to the promotion of cultural tourism, the enhancement of national pride, and the transmission of our history to future generations,” ayon sa resolusyon.

Sinabi ni de Venecia na ayon sa mga ulat, wala umanong fire suppression system o water sprinklers man lamang ang gusali.

“It took about 30 hours to declare fire out. Apparently, this may have been a disaster waiting to happen. We will certainly take a close look to ascertain the real timeline of events from during the fire and the building maintenance and security logs,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
