Kakampink lawyer mocks Jimmy Bondoc’s Bar success

A FACEBOOK post by lawyer Jesus Falcis went viral after he appeared to make light of singer-turned-lawyer Jimmy Bondoc, who recently passed the Bar exams.

“Bar takers, TANDAAN: Kung kaya ni Jimmy Bondoc pumasa, kaya nyo din,” Falcis wrote, in what many readers interpreted as a mocking remark on Bondoc’s achievement.

While some dismissed the comment as a passing joke, others viewed it as a political swipe, noting Falcis’ known affiliation with the “Kakampink” movement.

Lawyer Edward Chico came to Bondoc’s defense, saying Falcis’ post carried political undertones. “Maybe meant as a joke or maybe not as he is not a comedian,” Chico said.

Chico stressed that Bondoc’s accomplishment should not be downplayed, recalling that the former OPM singer was classmates at Ateneo Law with fellow lawyer Luke Espiritu, who is also a known “Kakampink.”

“He’s a smart guy… I’m sure Jimmy wouldn’t be triggered despite the import of the post. He understands where the poster is coming from,” Chico said.

Chico also pointed out that Bondoc juggled his law studies with government work and music gigs, even performing in one of his shows weeks before the Bar. “Sadly, because he’s a showbiz personality, he gets stereotyped as someone who doesn’t know any better. But he’s legit,” he added.
