Imee seeks urgent probe into Digong’s arrest

SENATOR Imee Marcos is calling for a Senate investigation into the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, questioning whether due process was followed, especially with the involvement of Interpol and the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“As chairperson of the Senate committee on foreign relations, I am calling for an urgent investigation into the arrest of former President Duterte, an issue that has deeply divided the nation,” Marcos said Monday.

Marcos said she would summon officials from key agencies, including the Philippine National Police, Department of Justice, and National Security Council, to clarify law enforcement policies and the country’s engagement with international tribunals.

“Our sovereignty and legal processes must remain paramount,” Marcos emphasized.

Duterte was arrested on March 11 based on an ICC warrant for alleged crimes against humanity linked to his war on drugs.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. denied claims of political persecution, stating that the government merely complied with Interpol but did not cooperate with the ICC.
