OLYMPIC gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz has begun preparations for her teaching role at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
According to UPDate Online, Diaz attended the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) from January 12 to 15 at the UP Diliman School of Economics, ahead of her stint as a lecturer at the College of Human Kinetics (CHK).
The course is conducted by the UPD Office for the Advancement of Teaching to help new faculty members and teaching assistants strengthen their classroom skills.
A first-time CHK lecturer, Diaz said she felt both nervous and excited about teaching. “Good thing na naka-attend ako nitong TEC. Nagkaroon ako ng idea kung paano iyong magiging approach ko sa pag-handle ng class,” she said, adding that she was grateful for the support of her CHK colleagues.
Diaz will handle two PE 2 weightlifting classes in the second semester of Academic Year 2025–2026.
She said she hopes to help raise awareness about the sport and integrate weightlifting more deeply into Philippine sports education. “I want to educate more people para mas maraming makaintindi ng weightlifting,” she said.
