Gov’t to intensify efforts vs online child trafficking

WITH mounting reports on illegal adoption and the online sale of babies, particularly on platforms like Meta, the government said it will intensify measures in combatting child trafficking.

Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson Asec. Mico Clavano said that relying solely on reports and the efforts of the DOJ, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Authority for Child Care (NACC), and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is insufficient.

He stressed that the fight against child trafficking would not be effective without the support of the public.

He urged citizens, especially netizens, to promptly report such illegal activities to the authorities.

Clavano further mentioned that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is also deeply concerned about this issue and is committed to ending this illegal practice. (GP)
