GMA Network files estafa complaint vs TAPE officials

GMA Network has filed a criminal complaint for estafa with abuse of confidence against several officers of Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE), accusing them of misappropriating over ₱37 million in advertising revenues.

Filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City, the complaint names the following as respondents: former TAPE president and CEO Romeo Jalosjos Jr., TAPE chairman Romeo Jalosjos Sr., treasurer and Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Bullet Jalosjos, TAPE president and CEO Malou Choa-Fagar, former senior vice president for finance Michaela Magtoto, and finance consultant Zenaida Buenavista.

GMA said the complaint arose from TAPE’s failure to remit advertising revenues due to the network, despite a 2023 assignment agreement that required all collections to be turned over.

The funds, according to the complaint, were instead used for TAPE’s operational expenses, which is an alleged breach of the trust arrangement.

GMA said it is seeking to recover the full amount of ₱37,941,352.56 and hold the TAPE officials accountable.
