Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma on Friday called on employers to adopt flexible work arrangements as the country experiences soaring temperatures.
Laguesma urged businesses to assess workplace conditions, ensure proper ventilation, and provide free drinking water to protect employees from heat-related illnesses.
He stressed that flexible work setups, including remote work, should be considered for employees who do not require a physical presence at the workplace.
“As long as productivity remains unaffected, allowing employees to work remotely is a viable option,” he said.
Laguesma also reminded employers that flexible work arrangements are permitted as long as they do not disrupt business operations.
