The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has urged the public to continue praying for Pope Francis, who remains in critical condition at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since his admission on February 14.
“Let us continue to pray for Pope Francis,” the CBCP said in a Facebook post, sharing the latest health update from the Holy See Press Office regarding the 88-year-old pontiff.
The Vatican reported that the Pope remains in critical condition and though he has not experienced further respiratory crises since Saturday evening.
However, early signs of mild kidney failure have been detected, though they are currently under control, according to the latest medical update.
Cardinals Jose Advincula and Pablo Virgilio David are leading vigil prayers in the Philippines for the Pope’s recovery.
David, who also serves as CBCP president, led a Mass for Pope Francis Thursday evening at the Cathedral of San Roque in Caloocan City, urging the faithful to pray for his healing.
Meanwhile, Advincula presided over a “Holy Hour for the Healing of Pope Francis” at the Manila Cathedral on Friday, on the eve of the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, the first pope of the Catholic Church.
