FORMER Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel “Manny” Bonoan has returned to the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed Sunday.
Bonoan arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport aboard China Airlines flight CI0701 from Taipei.
He is currently under an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued by the Department of Justice in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged flood control anomalies and so-called “ghost” projects.
He has been subpoenaed by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which has been probing the flood control scam since last year. BI records show Bonoan left the country last year to accompany his wife to the United States for a medical procedure and arrived in Manila alone.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the bureau has relayed his arrival details to the DOJ, following standard procedures.
An ILBO does not restrict travel but ensures authorities are notified of the movements of persons of interest in pending investigations.
