A FAMILY in Valenzuela City is calling for an investigation after their pet dog was found bloodied with its tongue severed.
CCTV footage showed the dog howling in apparent pain as a light, believed to be from a motorcycle or vehicle, passed by.
Hours later, the family of Rodlee Rivera-Zulueta discovered the animal injured and weak near their home, with its tongue cut off. They also found the severed tongue a short distance away.
Rivera-Zulueta said the dog had been tied inside their compound but managed to slip out before the incident. The family spent hours searching before finding the animal already bleeding heavily.
They have appealed to animal welfare groups and the police to help identify whoever harmed the dog and to determine possible violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
