DIWATA sought the help of Sen. Raffy Tulfo after being wrongfully arrested over an Anti-Street Obstruction Ordinance warrant in Mandaluyong.
Diwata, whose real name is Deo Jarito Balbuena, told “Raffy Tulfo in Action” on October 7 that police from the Trece Martires Warrant Section arrived at his home in General Trias to serve a warrant. He was detained but later released on bail.
Patrolman Johary Bogagong, the arresting officer, admitted that the warrant stemmed from a March incident where five men were caught drinking in Mandaluyong and fined.
One of them allegedly used an ID under Balbuena’s name and previous address. When the men failed to settle the fines, the warrant was issued wrongly targeting Diwata.
Bogagong confirmed that the person he arrested was not the viral vendor, making Diwata a clear victim of identity theft and wrongful arrest.
Diwata said he approached Tulfo to prevent similar cases from happening to others.
Tulfo assured that he will push for a Senate resolution to tighten protocols for warrant officers before making arrests.
