THE camp of Sarah Discaya stressed that her surrender to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was a “strategic legal move” anchored on her “clear conscience.”

In an interview on Wednesday, her lawyer, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, said Discaya’s action should not be taken as an admission of wrongdoing.

He added that Discaya surrendered because she was confident she could face the charges filed before the Digos Regional Trial Court. “Sumuko po siya dahil alam niya na malinis ang kanyang konsensya at kaya niyang harapin ang anumang legal na proseso,” he said.

Samaniego said the team had long prepared for this scenario, and voluntary surrender was part of their plan. Kaya iyan ang pinili niyang legal strategy,” he noted.

Discaya turned herself in to the NBI on Tuesday, shortly after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that a warrant for her arrest was about to be issued.
