FORMER Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and a contractor allegedly involved in a flood control scam in Bulacan may spend Christmas behind bars, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said.
Dizon identified the accused as former district engineer Henry Alcantara, assistant engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, and contractor Sarah Discaya of St. Timothy Construction Corporation.
“I think they’ll be spending Christmas in jail,” Dizon said in a television interview, adding that the accused could be arrested before the holidays.
The Office of the Ombudsman, led by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, is reportedly expediting the filing of charges against the group.
“Ombudsman Boying Remulla said that the first case we filed on September 13 is the fastest to get some personalities in jail. This includes notorious individuals from the First District of Bulacan — Alcantara, Hernandez, and Sarah Discaya,” Dizon said.
