DILG offers P10M reward for Atong Ang’s arrest

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has announced a P10-million reward for information leading to the arrest of gaming tycoon Atong Ang, who is facing kidnapping charges linked to the disappearance of cockfighting aficionados, or sabungeros.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said during a press briefing in Quezon City on Thursday that the reward would be given to anyone who could help authorities secure Ang’s arrest.

“Any information that will result in his arrest will be rewarded with P10 million, no questions asked,” he said in Filipino.

The Santa Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 26 issued a warrant of arrest on Wednesday against Ang and 17 other individuals for kidnapping in connection with the missing sabungeros. While the 17 co-accused were arrested and taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group later that day, Ang remains at large.

Ang’s legal counsel, Gabriel Villareal, has questioned the arrest order, describing it as premature and legally questionable.
