Digong ‘generally fine’, embassy facilitating kin’s visit

FORMER President Rodrigo R. Duterte has assured that he is “generally fine” after undergoing a medical check-up in The Netherlands ahead of his initial appearance before the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Friday.

In a statement, the Philippine Embassy in The Netherlands confirmed that Duterte contacted them around 3 p.m. (Central European Time) and informed them about his medical care.

“During the call, the former president conveyed, among others, that he underwent a medical check-up and has received medical care and that he is generally fine,” the embassy said.

The embassy is currently assisting in facilitating a visit from Duterte’s legal counsel and a family member upon his request. It has also submitted a request to the ICC Registry for a consular visit.

Duterte, currently at the ICC detention center, is scheduled to make his first appearance before the court at 9 p.m. (Manila time).
