THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed a policeman in Talisay City, Cebu under administrative relief after he appeared in a viral “Bring Me Challenge” video where he asked participants to produce an unregistered firearm, an addict and a “street-level drug pusher” in exchange for cash.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Tuaño said the video was posted by the officer on his personal social media account and immediately drew criticism for trivializing criminal activity and police protocols.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered the officer to submit an explanation and directed the immediate takedown of the video from all online platforms.
Anti-Cybercrime Group director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said that while the video has been removed, investigators have already preserved copies as part of the probe.
Tuaño said the officer used his own money for the challenge, which was uploaded on his Facebook page. However, he emphasized that such conduct is a clear violation of the Police Operational Procedures (POP), which he described as the “bible” for all PNP personnel.
“Nakikita natin dito ang paglabag sa tamang conduct bilang pulis,” Tuaño said.
The investigation is ongoing.
