Brian Poe Llamanzares urges support for local products, MSMEs

FPJ Panday Bayanihan party-list’s first nominee, Brian Poe Llamanzares, on Monday, called on consumers to support local products and micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially during the holiday season.

In a statement, Poe urged Filipino consumers to be more discerning when purchasing imported goods and to stay vigilant against the growing threat of online scams.

“During this Christmas season, let us make an effort to buy local products,” said Poe.

“While imported goods may seem cheaper and offer more options, we should be cautious about their quality and consider the impact on our local economy.”

Poe highlighted the challenges faced by Filipino MSMEs, which often struggle to compete with the influx of cheaper imported products.

“Supporting local businesses means investing in our own communities,” he explained.

“It means creating jobs, supporting families, and building a stronger economy for everyone.”

He also expressed concern over the rising vulnerability of Filipinos to online scams, noting how many consumers fall victim to deceptive advertisements, calls, and text messages.

“We cannot blame Nikkei Asia for calling the Philippines the epicenter of online shopping scams in Asia,” Poe said. “This is a serious issue that requires our attention.”

Poe encouraged Filipinos to be more cautious when making purchases, urging them to research products carefully and consider the quality and origin before buying.

“Let’s be mindful of where our money is going,” he added. “By choosing local products, we not only support fellow Filipinos but also ensure that we are getting high-quality goods made with care and attention.”
