Bong Go on plunder, graft charges: Diversionary tactic

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go dismissed the complaint filed against him by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV before the Office of the Ombudsman as a diversionary tactic meant to distract the public from real national issues.

Trillanes filed graft and plunder charges against Go and former President Rodrigo Duterte over the alleged awarding of P7 billion worth of government infrastructure projects to a company reportedly owned by Go’s relatives.

Go denied the allegations, calling them “false and repetitive.”

He argued that if Trillanes were truly serious about fighting corruption, he should file cases against the real corrupt officials, contractors, and financiers behind questionable or substandard flood control projects, which he claimed might even be funding political propaganda.

“Labanan natin ang korapsyon. Ikulong ang mga magnanakaw. Huwag ilihis ang isyu,” Go said during a press conference.

The senator added that he was not surprised by the move, noting that Trillanes had filed similar cases in 2018, 2021, and 2024.

Go also urged the Ombudsman, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to be impartial and uncover the truth behind the alleged flood control anomalies.
