Arnie Teves hospitalized for stomach pain

FORMER Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning, June 17, due to severe stomach pain, according to his lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio.

“He has been complaining of severe stomach pains since midnight last night, but was given medical attention at 5 in the morning,” Topacio said in a statement.

The lawyer did not disclose the name or location of the hospital “for security reasons.”

Teves is currently detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, following his deportation from Timor-Leste last month.

He is facing multiple charges in connection with the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and 10 others in March 2023. He also faces separate charges over the alleged killings of three individuals in 2019, and a case of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

The Anti-Terrorism Council has designated Teves and several of his alleged co-conspirators as terrorists, citing a string of killings and harassment incidents in Negros Oriental.
