Another powerful quake strikes Bogo City, Cebu Monday

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Bogo City, Cebu early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tremor occurred at 1:06 a.m. on October 13, 2025, with its epicenter located 14 kilometers south west of Bogo City, Cebu at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to Phivolcs’ Earthquake Information No. 1, Instrumental Intensity V was recorded in Villaba, Leyte, while Intensity IV was reported in Danao, Asturias, Argao City, Talisay, and Cebu City in Cebu province; and in Isabel, Hilongos, Ormoc City, Abuyog (Leyte) as well as Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.

Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, and aftershocks are expected. No tsunami warning was issued following the quake.

Authorities have yet to receive reports of major damage or casualties as local disaster teams continue their assessment in affected areas.
