ANO NA? Over a month since Marcos’ order, no findings yet from BIR lifestyle checks

MORE than a month after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered lifestyle checks on government officials linked to alleged flood control anomalies, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has yet to produce even an initial result.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed on Tuesday that the BIR’s probe is still “ongoing,” but offered no timeline for when findings might be released.

“Inutos na po sa BIR at ngayon po ay ongoing po ang ginagawa pong lifestyle check,” Castro told reporters.

The President’s order, issued on August 27, followed revelations of alleged irregularities in flood control projects, including contract splitting, bloated costs, collusion, and ghost projects.

The Palace has yet to disclose how many officials are under investigation—or whether contractors are being audited as well.
