IPINASA ng Senado sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang House Bill (HB) 7413 na nagpapalit sa Agham Road at BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) Road sa Quezon City bilang Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago Avenue.
Ipinasa ang panukala sa botong 22-0-0, na ayon kay Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. ay nagpapahayag ng “unanimous admiration of the chamber for the significant contributions of the fesity senator in the society.”
Pumanaw si Defensor-Santiago noong September 29, 2016 dabil sa cancer.
“She has truly left a legacy that, to this day, serves as our guiding light in our quest towards providing our countrymen with the kind of service she has espoused her whole life: public service punctuated by integrity and honor, standing courageously by the line of fire without fear nor bias, and always advocating for the welfare of the people above all else,” ayon sa manipestasyon ni Revilla.
Kinilala rin ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada si Defensor-Santiago bilang kanyang unang mentor sa Senado.
“She was very, very accommodating when I first met her in her residence and I asked her what to do in the Senate,” ayon kay Estrada.
Ang bagong pangalang kalye ay sasakop sa Agham Road na nagsisimula sa kanto ng North Avenue na tatawid ng Quezon Avenue hanggang BIR Road hanggang East Avenue.
