Aftershocks hit Bogo City in Cebu, Manay in DavOr

TWO aftershocks rocked parts of Cebu and Davao Oriental on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

A magnitude 3.9 tremor struck 21 kilometers southwest of Bogo City at 8:44 a.m. with a depth of one kilometer. The quake was felt at Intensity IV (Moderately Strong) in Bogo City and Intensity III (Weak) in Tabuelan town. Phivolcs said it was an aftershock of the September 30 magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit northern Cebu.

Another magnitude 4 aftershock was recorded 66 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental at 8:30 a.m. with a 10-kilometer depth. The agency confirmed it was related to the October 10 magnitude 7.4 offshore Davao Oriental quake, which caused major damage in the region.

Phivolcs said it is continuing to monitor aftershock activity in both areas but has yet to release reports on intensities for the Davao Oriental tremor.
