THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Thursday dismissed claims circulating on social media about an alleged destabilization plot within its ranks supposedly linked to corruption issues involving flood control projects.
AFP Public Affairs Office chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said there is “definitely no plan” of destabilization, stressing that such reports are nothing but “disinformation.”
“The AFP remains a disciplined and professional organization, loyal to its constitutional mandate and the chain of command,” Trinidad said in an interview with reporters.
He urged the public to be discerning about information shared online and to rely only on credible sources for updates and official statements.
Earlier, the AFP reminded the public not to drag soldiers into partisan politics, reiterating its commitment to uphold democratic principles and protect the nation’s stability.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently issued Executive Order No. 94 creating an independent fact-finding body to investigate alleged anomalies in government flood control and infrastructure projects—a move seen to ensure accountability and transparency amid ongoing corruption allegations.
