Acting PCO chief Cesar Chavez quits

ACTING Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez on Thursday announced that he is resigning from his post “irrevocably”.

He said he would officially leave his post on Feb. 28, 2025, or earlier if his replacement is appointed.

Chavez said he submitted his resignation to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on February 5, 2025, acknowledging that he did not meet the expectations set for him.

Despite leaving his post, he reaffirmed his support for the administration’s vision and commitment to public service.

He expressed gratitude to the President for the trust and opportunity, calling his tenure “the honor of a lifetime.”

While he did not disclose specific reasons for his departure, Chavez emphasized his dedication to serving every day as if it were his last.

Malacañang has yet to announce his successor.

Chavez was appointed as acting PCO chief in September 2024, replacing Cheloy Garafil, who now leads the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan.
