8 of 10 Filipinos believe corruption worsened — survey

EIGHT in 10 Filipinos believe that corruption in the country has worsened, according to the latest survey by Publicus Asia Inc.

The survey found that 81 percent of respondents said corruption has become more severe now compared to the Martial Law years.

Nearly half, or 49 percent, of the respondents also said both President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the House of Representatives should be held accountable for the alleged P1-trillion budget realignment.

A majority of Filipinos likewise believe that Congress and the President must answer for alleged irregularities in flood control projects, including the involvement of favored contractors.

Due to concerns over corruption, 58 percent of respondents said they prefer to reallocate the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget to education, while 35 percent want funds diverted to health, and 31 percent to agriculture.

The third-quarter “PAHAYAG” survey was conducted by Publicus Asia from September 27 to 30, 2025.
