60% Pinoys want Grace Poe to head DICT

ALMOST 60 percent of Filipinos favor Senator Grace Poe as the next Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary, following the resignation of Ivan Uy.

According to a survey conducted by Tangere, support for Poe was strongest among those aged 26 to 35 from Southern and Northern Luzon, and the Visayas.

The poll also revealed that 27 percent of respondents were undecided, while 14 percent opposed Poe’s appointment, majority coming from Metro Manila.

A third of those in favor cited Poe’s experience as chairperson of the Senate committee on public information and mass media, as well as her role in authoring the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.

However, critics pointed to her lack of an IT-related background as a key concern.

The survey, conducted on March 10, 2025, included 2,000 respondents from across the country, with a margin of error of ±2.15% at a 95% confidence level.

Tangere, a technology-driven market research company, conducted the survey using a mobile-based respondent application.

The firm is a member of the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines and the Philippine Association of National Advertisers.
