SINUSPINDE ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires ang limang opisyal ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) dahil sa umanong iregularidad na may kinalaman sa pagbili ng sibuyas na ibinibenta sa mga Kadiwa store.
Iniutos ang suspensyon habang isinasagawa ang imbestigasyon laban kay DA Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista, DA administrative officer Eunice Biblanias, DA officer-in-charge chief accountant Lolita Jamela, FTI vice president for operations John Gabriel Benedict Trinidad III at FTI budget division head Juanita Lualhati.
Ito ay base sa resolusyon ng Ombudmsan hinggil sa isinampang reklamong grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty at conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service na may kinalaman sa “shortage of supply of onions in the Philippine markets, its price manipulation and the questionable procurement of onions by FTI from Bonena Multi-Purpose Cooperative”
Ayon sa Ombudsman, nilabag umano ng mga ito ang Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act in relation to the Procurement Act ng pumasok ang mga ito sa memorandum of agreement sa FTI para sa pagbili ng sibuyas na siya namang ibebenta sa Kadiwa Food Hub project.
Samantala pumasok naman ang FTI sa isang agreement sa Bonena Multi-Purpose Cooperative para sa pagdedeliber ng 8,845 bags na may timbang na 247 metriko toneladang sibuyas.
