MAGPAPAKALAT ang Philippine National Police ng 4,400 pulis para matiyak na magiging payapa at ligtas ang gagawing pagho-host ng bansa sa 19th International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Basketball World Cup 2023 na magsisimula sa Agosto 25.
Sa Laging Handa briefing ngayong Biyernes, sinabi ni PNP Spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo na sinimulan na ang pagde-deploy ng mga tauhan ng PNP, partikular na sa airport at mga hotel na tutuluyan ng mga manlalaro, dahil nagsimula na ring magdatingan ang mga ito simula nitong Huwebes.
“All systems go we are expecting a crowd on August 25 when the FIBA Basketball World Cup opens. Right now, the PNP is still doing contingency planning, but these are only minor details because our security preparation and deployment for the opening of the FIBA Basketball World Cup is in place,” ayon kay Fajardo.
May mga itinalaga na ring mga tauhan mula sa Armed Forces, Philippine Coast Guard, Red Cross, Department of Health, at maging mga force multipliers.
“Expect there will be a volume of people. We will place sufficient personnel to ensure the safety and security of not only our participants and delegates but also our audiences who will watch the games,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
Dadayo sa Pilipinas ang mga manlalaro mula sa 15 bansa para maglaro sa Philippine Arena sa Bocaue, Bulacan simula sa Agosto 25, Smart Araneta Coliseum sa Cubao, Quezon City at SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena sa Pasay City.
