NAGHAYAG ng pagkabahala ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) sa ulat na mahigit 400 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa Pasay City Jail ay mayroong sintomas ng tuberculosis.
Sa kalatas, klinaro naman ng CHR na hindi pa conclusive ang resulta at isasailalim pa ang mga PDLs, na ngayon ay naka-isolate, sa isa pang pagsusuri.
“TB is a highly contagious disease that poses a serious health risk, particularly in overcrowded and poorly ventilated environments such as prisons. The high number of suspected TB cases among PDLs at Pasay City Jail highlights a critical public health issue that necessitates immediate and comprehensive action,” ayon sa CHR.
“The potential for TB to spread both within the prison population and to the broader community underscores the urgency of addressing this outbreak effectively,” dagdag nito.
Tinawagang ng pansin ng CHR ang atensyon ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology at iba pang kaugnay na ahensya na tutukan ang lagay ng mga detainees.
“The Commission remains steadfast in its mandate of protecting the rights of all individuals, including those who are in conflict with the law,” wika nito.
