THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed Friday that the two Filipina overseas workers who were reported missing in Hong Kong have been found safe.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the two women, who were reportedly in a relationship, are now under the care of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Hong Kong.
“The two missing OFWs in Hong Kong have been found and taken to the MWO-OWWA office in HK,” Cacdac said.
He added that the women were located at a police station and are now awaiting repatriation. “They were picked up from a police station and are safe and sound, and will be repatriated soon,” he said.
The two OFWs were last seen on October 4 after going out on their day off but failed to return to their respective employers.
“Ang detalye na alam natin, nakapag-day off sila at hindi nanumbalik sa kani-kanilang employers. Ni-report agad ng employers, ‘yon ang standard procedure,” Cacdac said.
