19 aftershocks recorded after 4.6 magnitude quake

A total of 19 aftershocks have been recorded following the magnitude 4.6 earthquake that struck Quezon province and nearby areas in Luzon on Monday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported.

Of these, nine were plotted, and only one was felt by residents. The aftershocks ranged in magnitude from 1.4 to 3.6.

The earthquake occurred at 12:17 p.m., with the epicenter located 24 kilometers northwest of General Nakar, Quezon. The tremor was felt across several parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.

As of now, the OCD said no significant damage has been reported. In Calabarzon, there have been no reported impacts in General Nakar or its neighboring areas.

Critical infrastructure, including Angat, Bustos, and Ipo Dams in Bulacan, Caliraya Dam in Laguna, and the Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija, have also remained unaffected.

The OCD assured the public that regional disaster risk reduction and management councils in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa are actively coordinating efforts and conducting damage assessments to ensure public safety following the tremor.
